ATTENTION
Some of the pictures and stories shown on the following pages may be disturbing. In many of these cases, the stories are tragic. People have been seriously injured and in some instances, killed. Those involved frequently have suffered very significant, sometimes permanent injuries. The patients, their families, and their friends have all suffered
as a result of these events.

We often receive calls from patients or their families asking us about what happened during an incident. The following photos and stories are provided, similar to a newspaper account, for educational and informational purposes. It is our hope that through education, tragic incidents such as these can be prevented.

Every BVFD member that responded to the calls send their thoughts and condolences
to everyone affected by the incidents.

Grant County MCI Gets A Run For Station 44.

On August 7th 2010 at 2139 Hrs Mineral County Comunications alerted The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company for the MVA with multiple injuries in Grant County. Ambulance 44-70 responded with 3. Station 44 had a crew for the second ambulance and rescue engine if needed. Ambulance 44-70 was on call for about 2 hours.


Busy Day At The 44 House

On August 4th 2010 The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the mutual aid to Moorefield Company 46 (Hardy County) for a fully involved barn fire in the area of Old Fields. Engine Tanker 44 responded with a crew of 2 and the Cheif (T. Simpson).

Later in the day The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company endured a small wind storm...Station 44 ran numerous public service calls during and after these storms in a short ammount of time. Trees were reported in the roadway on several area roads (Ebert Rd, Shirleys Lane, Pattersons Creek Rd) just to name a few. was alerted for the mutual aid to Moorefield COmpany 46 (Hardy County) for fully involved barn fire in the area of Old Fields. Both Chief officers were in command on different incidents simultaneously as well in station for other incidents.


Tractor Trailer Rollover With Fluids

On August 3rd 2010 the day began at 0906 Hrs with The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company alerted for the Rescue Local for the tractor trailer with rollover on Route 50 just east of Station 44. Rescue Engine 44, Utility 44, and Ambulance 44-70 responded. Lt.1 established Route 50 command. Units arived on the scene to find a tractor trailer that had rolled with a small ammount of hydrualic fluid spilled. Traffic was controlled and the small spill was mitigated by company 44 personnel.


Company 44 Runs The EMS Local

On August 2nd at 1500 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the EMS Local 44-4 for the Medical Emergency a general weakness on Route 50 West. Ambulance 44-70 responded with a crew of 2. The patient was transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.


Station 44 Alerted For The EMS Transfer

On August 1st at 1831 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the EMS Transfer mutual aid to New Creek Fire Company 38 for an ambulance transfer to the top of Knobley Mountain. Ambulance 44-70 with a crew of 3 responded for the stand-by. Crews staged for 20 minutes and were released.


Station 44 Alerted For The Local Box 38-2

On July 30th at 0521 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the Local Box 38-2 mutual aid to New Creek Fire Company 38 for a vehicle fire involving brush on Cut Off Road. Station 44 was originally alerted to respond to the scene but after New Creek units arrived on the scene to find a pulpwood truck on fire they requested Station 44 to do an in-station stand-by. Station 44 advised Mineral County Communications they had a crew on stand by at 1603 Hrs and were released by New Creek at 1650 Hrs.


Company 44 Alerted For The Brush Fire

On July 28th at 0521 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the Brush fire with Poles and Wires down on Route 50 at the Beaver Run Road intersection in Hampshire County. Engine Tanker 44 and Brush 44 responded. Engine 1-14 and Attack 1 (Romney Fire) also responded on this call but were returned to service before arrivingon the scene.


44 House Runs The Woods Fire

On July 27th at 0354 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the woods fire on Patterson Creek Road South. Brush 44 and Utility 44 responded. Brush 38 (New Creek Fire) also responded on this call.


EMS Local 44-3

On July 25th at 1853 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for Local Box 44-3 the transformer arcing on Ebert Road. Brush 44 responded with the Chief. Chief 44 (T. Simpson) had the Ebert Road command.

Again at 1200 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for EMS Local 44-3 on Route 50 West. Ambulance 44-70 and Utility 44 responded with a total crew of 8.

Finally The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the Local Box a tree down in the roadway on Ed Welch Road. Brush 44 responded with a crew of 3. Station 44 also had a crew of 4 on station during this call.


EMS Local

On July 19th at 1902 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the unconcious/unresponsive person in Hampshire County 2 miles east of Junction. Ambulance 44-70 responded with a crew of 3 and Utility 44 responded with a crew of 5. All units were cancelled by Hampshire County before arriving on the scene.


EMS Local

On July 17th at 1500 Hrs The Burlington Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the EMS Local for a dog bite on Knobley Road. Ambulance 44-70 responded with a crew of 4. Ambulance 44-70 arrived on he scene to find an elderly male that had been bitten by a dog with injuries to his face, neck and arm. Ambulance 44-70 transported the patient to Potomac Valley Hospital.
