ATTENTION
Some of the pictures and stories shown on the following pages may be disturbing. In many of these cases, the stories are tragic. People have been seriously injured and in some instances, killed. Those involved frequently have suffered very significant, sometimes permanent injuries. The patients, their families, and their friends have all suffered
as a result of these events.
We often receive calls from patients or their families asking us about what happened during an incident. The following photos and stories are provided, similar to a newspaper account, for educational and informational purposes. It is our hope that through education, tragic incidents such as these can be prevented.
Every BVFD member that responded to the calls send their thoughts and condolences
to everyone affected by the incidents.

February 22nd 2010 |
| 44 House Runs Mutual For The Fully Involved Structure |
On February 22nd at 1930 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the mutual assist to Hardy County for the fully involved 2 story residential rtructure fire on River Road behind the 84 Lumber in Moorefield. Engine Tanker 44 responded with 5 along with Hardy County units. Upon arrival, crews from Hardy County Company 46 (Moorefield Fire) arrived on scene and to find a 2 story residential structure fully involved. Company 46 command requested Engine Tanker 44 drop thier crew at the scene and proceed to the radio station to assist in water shuttle operations. Engine Tanker 44 dropped 3 firefighters at the scene and assisted with a crew of 2 in the water supply operations. Other units assisting on the call Engine 46-12, Engine 46-13, Engine 46-14, Tanker 46-20, Squad 46-40(Moorefield Fire), Rescue Engine 495, Tanker 492 (Petersburg Fire). Engine Tanker 44 returned back in service at 2345 Hrs.

| 44 House Runs Mutual For The Vehicle Fire |
On February 15th at 2358 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the mutual assist to Hampshire County for the fully invlved vehicle fire in the Indian Heights Subdivision. Engine Tanker 44 responded with 4 along with Attack 1, Engine 1-14 (Romney Fire). Upon arrival, crews from Hampshire Co Company 1 (Romney Fire) arrived on scene and performed an excellent knock down. Company 1 command returned Engine Tanker 44 back in service at 0014 Hrs.

| February 6 - February 9 2010 Winter Weather Keeps 44 House Busy |
On February 9th around 2200 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the MVA involving a tractor trailer. Utility 44 responded with 3. Upon arrival, found vehicle stranded on the 3 lanes. Asst. Chief 44 (S. Minor) established command. Vehicle was removed with the help of the State Road. All units returned to service.

| On February 6th around 2150 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for a well-being check on Afton Road. Utility 44 responded with 2. While enroute, Utility 44 encoutered dangerous road conditions. Station 38 was dispatched to help remove snow with there plow and the National Guard was called. Found homeowner to be ok. |

| 44 House Alerted For The Medical Local 44 |
On February 2nd at 0542 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for a Medical Local on Russeldale Road. BLS 44-71 responded with 2. The patient was transported to Potomac Valley Hospital. All units returned to service by 0724 Hrs.

| 44 House Alerted To The City |
On February 1st at 1500 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the station transfer to the Keyser Volunteer Fire Company at 1 Center Street. Engine Tanker 44 responded with 5. The Keyser Volunteer Fire Company was on a working residential structure fire on Toms Hollow Road in MCcoole, Maryland for more information on this working incident visit The Potomac Fire Company 22 Crews returned to service at approximately 1800 Hrs. |

| 44 House Alerted For The Medical Local 44 |
On January 31st the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for a Medical Local on Beaver Run Road. BLS 44-71 responded with 4. The patient was transported to Potomac Valley Hospital by Medic 44-71. All units returned to service.

January 30th 2010 |
| 44 House Alerted For The MVA |
On January 30th at 1540 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the Rescue Local on Route 220 for the two vehicle MVA. Rescue Engine 44, and BLS 44-71 responded. Three patient refusals and one patient was transported to Hampshire Memorial Hospital. Department of Highways responded due to the icing conditions on the roadway.

| 44 House Runs The Working Structure FIre |

On January 29th the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the Working Residential Structure Fire on Sector Road. Rescue Engine 44, Tanker 44, Engine Tanker 44, Mini Pumper 44, and Utility 44 responded. Upon arrival crews found the fire contained to the bathroom apparently they were using a kerosene heater that started the fire. Romney(Co. 11) responded for the EMS. A quick knockdown of the fire was made and crews cleared the scene.

| 44 House Alerted For The Chimney Fire |
On January 29th the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the Chimney Fire on Shirley's Lane. Rescue Engine 44, and Tanker 44 responded. BLS 44-71 responded for the EMS. Everything was found to be under normal conditions. All units cleared the scene.

| 44 House Alerted For The MVA |
On January 28th at 2230 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the Rescue Local on Pattersons Creek Road North for the single vehicle MVA. Mini Pumper 44, and Utility 44 responded. One patient refusal and one patient was transported. Fountain(Co. 39) responded for the ems.

| Rescue Local MVA Rollover With Entrapment |
On January 28th at 1630 Hrs the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the Rescue Local for a tractor/trailer roll over on Route 50 and Rodgers Road with entrapment. Rescue Engine 44, Mini Pumper 44, and BLS 44-71 responded with 2. Patient was out of the vehicle upon arrival. DOH responded for for clean up and sand application. Hampshire County Company 1 (Romney) also responded to assist with traffic control. All units returned to service.

On January 12th the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for a Medical Local on Fleming Road. BLS 44-71 responded with 4. Patient had fallen on the ice in the driveway. The patient was placed on a board and transported to Hampshire Memorial Hospital. All units returned to service.

On January 12th the Burlington Volunteer Fire & Rescue was alerted for the mutual aid to Augusta Company 3 for the working structure fire on Sol Shanholtz Road. Tanker 44 responded with 3, While enroute Hampshire County was advised to start the engine tanker from Burlington to Romney Company 1 for the staton fill Engine Tanker 44 responded with 5. |
