Frequently Asked Questions

How Can I help
Burlington Fire offers a variety of ways to support volunteer emergency services operations in the area. All people, regardless of age, skill, or any other determining factors have something to give to this organization. Certainly, we are constantly in need of volunteer emergency responders, but we are also always in need of volunteers to help in other ways, such as fundraising. As operating costs continue to rise, so does our call volume. It is becoming more and more difficult for volunteers to respond to emergency calls and to work to provide the funding necessary. We welcome anyone who chooses to join us, regardless of what role they wish to fill. If you are interested in joining, please look to the left side of the page and click on the "Join" section. There you will find a link to download our application.

Remember: whether you aspire to be the next Fire Chief, just want to help with fundraising, or anything in between, we look forward to working with you.

I Have No Prior Training, Where Do I Begin ?
You can start right here and right now. There are no prior qualifications to become a member of Burlington Fire. There are, however, free classes that are provided by Burlington Fire, RESA VIII, and other agencies throughout the state that will enhance your ability to provide emergency services. We encourage all active members to participate in these classes. We work hard to provide the best possible training to our members.

What Are The Time Requirements When I Join ?
Currently, there are no time requirements when you join Burlington Fire. All that we ask is that you give of yourself in a way that will be effective for the company. Different people have different circumstances in life and all we expect is that you give what you can. However, when you do become a member, you will be expected to pull your share of the weight. If you have any questions about the time commitment, please contact one of our members. We feel strong that you will find, however, that once you start answering emergency calls, you will have a desire to continue as much as you can. It's a great place to spend time.
